Primal Surge вЂ“ These upgrades will make a lot more sense by leading with this, by dropping our instant and sorcery count to zero, this card flips our whole deck onto the table, enabling some interesting ways to win the game. Slapping a mask or two on a Sphere of Safety renders it safe from mass removal, demanding opponentвЂ™s spend their precious single Return to Dusts and Forsake the Worldlys. This ties in nicely to a planeswalker commander as they lend to the passive play style this strategy is known for. Pillowfort is all about stacking enchantments on the board and then keeping everyone out of your fort with a combination of deterrents. Then there is the additional challenge of me not constantly screaming about why each card I suggest wasnвЂ™t in the original deck. I would of liked these upgrades to be as budget as possible, but there is a lot to change because of this, I tried to keep it under $100. The manabase is almost passable, your standard common and uncommon rarity only land manabase. This means stripping the aura voltron and enchantment creature plan out entirely. This generally leaves the deck a directionless mess, something enchantress especially canвЂ™t do. Much like every year, these decks are designed to benefit from having one of three different commanders within the deck at the helm. This can only mean one thing, Bant Enchantress Pillowfort with a combo finisher. Her masks let you either have permanents that wouldnвЂ™t otherwise untap with to her first ability or protect key enchantments thanks to Totem Armour.

Her plus lets you untap your lands enchanted by the likes of Overgrowth and Fertile Ground, a huge benefit to often mana-hungry Enchantress decks, letting her do a good Garruk impression with a little help. Estrid, the Masked, the Bant planeswalker commander, especially took my interest. ThatвЂ™s enough waffling about the state of this yearвЂ™s cycle, the new cards, especially the legendary creatures, themselves are welcome additions to the EDH format. You can tell the decks were designed to have reduced interaction to a point where the planeswalker commanders truly shine when played against each other, making for generally weak decks that result in three hour-long games. The decksвЂ™ unusually high land-counts and lack of expensive reprints, spot removal, strong direction or interesting gameplay outside of a preconstructed EDH deck-centric meta doesnвЂ™t hold up well for the raised MSRP iteration of this annual highly anticipated product.
